When you abandon your fruit snacks to or having improper storage it either go bad quickly or gradually whichever way it goes south.

Here are some signs on how to tell if your homemade or manufactured fruit snacks are going south in the refrigerator, freezer, and at room temperature;

The Appearance

I don’t think that anything can go bad without changing its appearance.

If opened, check for any form of discoloration and also check for any presence of mold on it.

When there are visible signs of mold or the turning fading out, Trash them immediately.

Air Pores

When the fruit snacks are not open, check the pack for leaking or bulging.

If you notice that the packs are leaking, having air pores, or the container that you are using to keep the homemade bites are bulging out.

Recommendation:

Here you have two options, its either you transfer them to a different container in good condition

Or you toss them immediately and get new nibbles.

The smell of everything you eat plays important role in your appetite and choice of food.

If your brain doesn’t interpret the smell very well, you will end up losing appetite for that food.

Bites generally have a nice and sweet smell, but when the smell becomes rancid or it is having an off smell,

It is a sure sign to throw them out. Do not eat bites that have gone past their expiry dates.

If They Become Soft And Weightless

When the texture of the nibbles has become extremely soft, soggy, and weightless.

It is a sign that your bites are bad. The only option left is to trash them.

Taste Of Fruit Snacks

If you are not sure with the above signs that your nibbles are bad,

Then the taste of fruit snacks will make you understand better.

When your nibbles are having a sour or off-taste. Obviously, they are going south.

  1. I am disappointed, the numbers on the individual packages on Mott’s fruit snacks do not match the format of Welch’s fruit snacks. I can not find an expiration date now that the little packages are out of the box they came in. For example the number on Mott’s is FOCR1027 where is the letter for the month that comes between the dates? Also I know these were not made in 2010, which is the first number to appear after the 4 letters. This does Not make any sense to me. I feel like by giving us Welch’s format only and not Mott’s you are side stepping my real question of when does this expire and how do you decipher your numbers to get that date I need??? I don’t need Welch’s data, I need Mott’s! Just give us real answers!
